SLOW START STYMIES DEVILS
The Fredonia State men's basketball season came to an end Tuesday night, as they fell victim to Cortland State, 70-60, in the first round of the SUNYAC playoffs.

CORTLAND OVER DEVILS
The Cortland Dragons ended the Devils hopes of securing a home playoff game, downing them 56-50 on Saturday evening. The Devils finish the season sixth in the conference and will end up facing the No. 3 seed -- the Cortland Red Dragons -- again on Tuesday in Round 1 of the SUNYAC Tournament. Links: SUNYAC STANDINGS

DEVILS SHOW STEELE RESOLVE
Down 25-21 at the half, the Devils used a 13-0 run early in the second half to take control of the game, and go on to a 65-56 victory over Oswego. Amir Billups keyed the flurry with six points during the run, and eight points in the final 1:48. Links: SUNYAC STANDINGS

ROAD WINNERS
The Devils picked up a 66-58 road win at Geneseo to give them a season sweep of the Blue Knights. Joseph Monahan led the Devils with 22 points.

O.T. AGAIN
For the second consecutive night, the Blue Devils played an extra period, this time coming out on the short end, 63-61, to Oneonta. Julius Bryant led the Devils with 15 points, including a basket in the closing seconds sending the game into overtime.

DEVILS CONTINUE CLUTCH PLAY IN STEELE
The Blue Devils continued to come out on the winning side in the games that go down to the wire. They claimed a 67-62 overtime win vs. New Paltz in Steele Hall. The Devils are now 4-0 in home conference games decided by three points or less or go to overtime. A 13-8 advantage in the extra period helped the Devils even their conference record to 7-7.

The Blue Devils improved to 6-7 in the conference -- 8-11 overall -- with a 58-53 victory over the Potsdam Bears. Down by as many as eight points early in the first half, the Blue Devils put together a comeback which included a 16-0 run

A three-point basket by Buffalo State's Jake Simmons with :47 left broke the 11th tie of the game and carried the Bengals to a 70-67 SUNYAC home win over the Blue Devils.

Turnovers on Geneseo's final four possesions helped the Devils hang on in a tightly contested game. Freshman Joseph Monahan stepped up for the Devils, leading all scorers with 20 points, and sinking a pair of free throws down the stretch.

After a clutch three-pointer by Brad Cooper, Julius Bryant’s layup with :16 left gave the Devils a late lead. Fisher (Mass.) College would provide the heroics with a buzzer beater, claiming a 72-71 victory over the Devils in the Brodie Tournament at R.I.T.

Clutch steals by Brad Cooper and Kyle Mitchell in the final minutes keyed the Devils furious comeback in from of a near-capacity crowd in Steele Hall. The Devils used a 20-2 run over the final 8:00 to claim the three-point victory.

A tournament cancellation left Fredonia State scrambling for replacement games in late August. A combination of good timing and a speedy internet response has the Blue Devils in North Carolina, where they will meet the Davidson Wildcats at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Belk Arena, above.
