Rushing SAI

Rushing SAI is a great opportunity to get to know the sisters of the fraternity and to also let them get to know prospective members. Rushing is a week-long process that consists of fun, engaging social activities. The first night of rush week (which takes place the day after Activities Night) is "Meet the Sisters" Night. This is a general gathering time to introduce each other and share basic information. There are fun ice-breaker games, which are sure to bring a couple laughs! Other activities vary for the rest of the week.

We will meet in the Mason Lounge before every event to walk over to it's location (in case some people might not know where they are). All activities are free for rushes; and you aren't required to be at every event if you can't make them all.

The sisters of the Delta Lambda chapter look forward to getting to know you!

Other events from past rushes have included:

"Spa Night" - A night of feminine pampering with manicures, magazines, and tons of snack food!
"Movie Night" - Where we show a (sometimes musically related) movie and everyone nestles into a sister's living room with popcorn and blankets!
"Game Night" - Tons of board games and other games, with our classic round of "Psychiatrist", an SAI favorite!
"Craft Night" - A newly established SAI tradition of personal expression! Each girl gets a posterboard puzzle piece to personalize, and after explaining our decorations each piece assembles to spell our greek letters!
"Half-Price Appetizers" - A fun night at Applebees, where sisters often hang out for good eats. $3 for chicken fingers? You can't go wrong!
"SAI/PMA Picnic" - A tradition for the fall rush where sisters and brothers can mingle on campus, chase frisbees, enjoy hot dogs from the grill and participate in a rousing game of kickball!
"Bowling with the Brothers" - A spring semester staple whereupon both music fraternities at Fredonia invade the local bowling alley. Free shoe rental and lots of great memories!
"Snow Sports and Kareoke" - Another wintertime activity where the sisters battle the brothers on snowy terrain! The usual game we play is Snow Football, however there are other snow activities (snow angels, snowball fights, relays, etc) for those who don't want to rumble. Afterwards, both groups retreat to the Campus Grind to warm up and sing kareoke!
And more! - We're always brainstorming new and fun ways to get to know our rushes. If you have any ideas for an activity, please send suggestions to SAIfredonia@yahoo.com!

Another activity during Rush Week that also stays the same is the "Round Table Discussion". Since we've been getting to know rushes' personalities all week, this activity gives the sisters a chance to know how they relate to the organization. Although it may sound intimidating, the atmosphere is friendly and lighthearted. Nobody is expected to answer questions they might feel uncomfortable with, and rushes are also encouranged to ask the sisters questions as well. Round Table gives everyone a chance to get information and cultivate sisterly bonds.

If the sisterhood agrees to extend membership to a rush, a bid will be given to them. A bid is a formal notecard which offers them to dedicate themselves to the fraternity. Rushes can either choose to accept or refuse a bid, although we sincerely hope they'd accept after a fun rush week! If accepted, the prospective member must attend the Pledge Ceremony to be initiated as a Member-In-Training (MIT). If a bid is declined, there are no hard feelings. Sigma Alpha Iota is not for everybody, and the sisterhood understands and respects a rush's decision.

As of Spring 2007, the Delta Lambda chapter has 22 active sisters and 3 who are on their professional semester. We look forward to next semester's rush season and can't wait to expand our chapter!
