What is the Seneca Nation/SUNY Fredonia Science & Technology Entry Program?
The Seneca Nation/SUNY Fredonia Science & Technology Entry Program (STEP) is a collaborative effort between
the Seneca Nation of Indians, SUNY Fredonia, Salamanca City Central, Gowanda Central, Silver Creek Central,
and Lake Shore Central school districts. The program is designed to provide Native American and other eligible
students with activities and services which challenge assumptions, explore new career and educational
opportunities, look in new directions and to the future. The program provides an environment for learning,
growing and a place where being yourself is accepted.
A variety of experiences will be offered to enhance students' discovery of various career opportunities in the
fields of mathematics, science, technology, and health care. STEP encourages students to achieve their full
potential in mathematics and science courses. The importance of selecting a challenging course of study is
stressed, while STEP's individual study sessions help to ensure the successful completion of rigorous classes.
STEP will act as an advocate for its participants who later choose to enroll in institutions of higher education.
Essentially, enhancement activities, advising and college preparatory services will be provided at no cost
to eligible students in the Gowanda, Lake Shore, Silver Creek, and Salamanca school districts. We're here
to help those who want to realize their potential in science, mathematics and technology.
