All Liberal Arts freshmen take this one-credit seminar in the fall semester. Taught by faculty and professional staff, each seminar enrolls no more than 20 students and is graded on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis. Students can choose from an interesting variety of seminar subjects, all geared toward the process of self-discovery.

Topics in the past have included:

  • Learning about oneself through family stories
  • Visual culture and how it portrays women
  • Exploring our diverse social, political, and cultural connections in a new century
  • High School Afterlife: Thinking Big
  • The implications of life's choices
  • The art of active listening

In addition to the seminar, all Liberal Arts Freshman must attend one 50-minute meeting discussing successful course selection strategies and registration for the spring semester.
