All Liberal Arts freshmen take this one-credit seminar in the fall semester. Taught by faculty and professional staff, each seminar enrolls no more than 20 students and is graded on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis. Students can choose from an interesting variety of seminar subjects, all geared toward the process of self-discovery.
Topics in the past have included:
- Learning about oneself through family stories
- Visual culture and how it portrays women
- Exploring our diverse social, political, and cultural connections in a new century
- High School Afterlife: Thinking Big
- The implications of life's choices
- The art of active listening
In addition to the seminar, all Liberal Arts Freshman must attend one 50-minute meeting discussing successful course selection strategies and registration for the spring semester.
