Welcome
Welcome to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVPAA) home page. Even though our staff members are few, we manage to get quite a bit accomplished during the course of an academic year. Ms. Gloria Hobbs is the Secretary I assigned to the office of the AVPAA...and that concludes the staff list!
The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs has oversight responsibility for:
- All undergraduate Interdisciplinary Studies Programs
- The College Core Curriculum (CCC) & associated assessment
- Liberal Arts Program
- Honors Program
- Articulation Agreements
- LART Freshman Seminars
The Associate Vice President also assists the Vice President with the day-to-day supervision of the following departments:
- Academic Advising
- Registrar's Office
- Office of International Education
- Learning Center
- Native American Consortium
This office also coordinates all curriculum proposals for the campus, working closely with the department Chairs and college Deans. Local campus curriculum modifications include new course and program proposals as well as changes to programs and courses. The AVPAA is responsible for shepherding the programs through the State University of New York and New York State Education curriculum approval systems. She is also the point person for the undergraduate and graduate university catalogs, the online Campus Handbook; and the Chairs' Handbook.
In addition, the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs is the liaison for the Army ROTC program offered at SUNY Fredonia by the Military Science Department at St. Bonaventure University. She meets and corresponds regularly with the regional representative of the Veterans Affairs Division to verify SUNY Fredonia programs for the G.I. Bill program.
