CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State Blue Devils continued their hot play, avenging an early-season loss, defeating Cortland 5-0.

It was the eighth straight NCAA win for the Devils. For Cortland, it was their seventh loss in eight games.

The teams skated to a scoreless first period.

The Devils jumped out to a lead early in the second period, with Mat Hehr scoring his 13th goal of the season on a power play 1:03 into the frame. Alex Morton and Jordan Oye assited.

The Devils would take a 2-0 lead with two-and-a-half minutes left in the period as Hehr returned the favor to Oye, assisting on Oye’s ninth goal of the season. Mitch Kulikoski also assisted.

Early in the third, Oye and Hehr would figure the Devils’ third-straight goal, with Oye scoring and Hehr assisting.

Bryan Ross and Dave Ridos would score the Devils’ final two goals. Ross connected on a power play 8:00 into the third. Ridos at 15:17.

Kody Van Rentergem was the shutout goaltender, stopping 21 shots.

Cortland falls to 3-6 in the SUNYAC and 6-12 overall.

The Devils  are now 6-3 in the SUNYAC and 14-4 overall. They travel to Oswego to take on the No.1 ranked Lakers for a 7 p.m. game on Saturday.
