FORT MYERS, N.Y. -- The Devils dropped an 11-9 game vs. Bethel on Tuesday.
The Devils undoing was four walks and a hit by pitch leading to four runs in the first three innings, and four unearned runs in the eighth caused by a pair of errors. Heading into the game, the Devils’ had committed just one error in five games.
“Some fundamental breakdowns hurt us today,” said head coach Matt Palisin. “That is uncharacteristic of our team, and we will bounce back on Thursday.”
Offensively, the Devils banged out 14 hits. Josh Greco led the way with three hits. Josh Melquist had two hits, including a double and homerun. Rob Herrmann had a pair of doubles. Don Kirsch and Jon Messina had two hits apiece.
Brian Lansing took the loss for Fredonia State despite pitching two solid innings. He was a victim of a pair of two-out errors.
The Devils fall to 4-2 overall. They have Wednesday off before taking on Minnesota Morris on Thursday.
