BRADFORD, Pa. -- Fredonia State rapped 28 hits in its doubleheader sweep Tuesday at Pitt-Bradford.
The Blue Devils won the first game, 7-3, and then rolled in the nightcap, 14-6, to improve to 16-9.
Don Kirsch (Cowlesville/Attica) had six hits on the day, and Rob Herrmann (Trumansburg) had five, including one of three Blue Devil homers. Herrmann's homer came in the first inning of Game One. Taylor Gahagen (Amherst/Williamsville North) and Mark Majka (Depew/St. Francis) hit homers in Game Two.
In addition to all the offense, a team pitching record was set as junior Andy Dlugosz (Lackawanna/Timon-St. Jude) earned his 13th career victory. Dlugosz pitched the final five innings in the second game to overtake former teammate Tom Hausler, who notched his 12th career win last season. Dlugosz improved to 6-2 this spring.
Dan Greco (Lockport) was the winning pitcher in the first game. He allowed three runs in the first four innings to improve to 2-1. Justin Nowak (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) picked up his first save this season with three scoreless innings of relief.
The Blue Devils stay out of conference when D'Youville visits Ludwig Field for a doubleheader Wednesday starting at 2 p.m.
