FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State Blue Devils finished their 2010 campaign in style, defeating Medaille, 13-5, on Senior Day at Ludwig Field.
Senior Justin Nowak (Cheektowaga/Maryvale) went the distance on the mound, scattering 12 hits and walking two. Three of the hits were solo home runs.
On offense, the Devils started seven seniors, each having at least two hits each. Bryan Bongiovanni (Fredonia) and Josh Greco (Lockport) had three apiece. Josh Melquist (Jamestown) had a triple and a double.
Other Blue Devil seniors were Don Kirsch (Attica), Rob Herrmann (Trumansburg), Matt Laporte (Westfield), and Joe Kephart (Niagara Falls/Niagara Wheatfield).
Junior Jon Messina (Jamestown) also added a pair of safeties. In all, the Devils had 20 hits.
Fredonia State finishes the season 21-13. Medaille falls to 18-16.
