FREDONIA, N.Y. -- No. 11 ranked Manhattanville outshot and outscored Fredonia State, 2-0, in non-conference action Friday at the Steele Hall Ice Arena.
Evan Michalchuk (Edmonton, Alberta) scored on unassisted goal at 13:39 of the first period, while Chris Trafford (Kinburn, Ont.) added an insurance tally at 6:46 of the third for the Valiants (9-2-2).
Manhattanville goaltender Sergiy Sorokolat (Kharkiv, Ukraine) stopped 17 shots to earn the shutout. Fredonia State freshman Kody VanRentergem (Leduc, Alberta) made 30 saves.
The Blue Devils (4-8-3) were outshot 22-9 over the first two periods and were unable to mount an offensive attack in the third period despite outshooting the Valiants, 10-8.
The same two teams meet 3 p.m. Saturday at Steele Hall.
