FREDONIA, N.Y.  -- Manhattanville broke open a tie game with two goals late in the third period for a 4-2 non-conference win over Fredonia State at the Steele Hall Ice Arena.

The Valiants (10-2-2), ranked No. 11 by USCHO.com, took a 3-2 lead on a deflection by A.J. Mikkelsen (Chestermere, Alberta) during a Manhattanville power play with 1:26 left in regulation.

Arlen Marshall (Quill Lake, Sask.) scored into an empty net to compete the scoring.

The Blue Devils (4-9-3) never led Saturday after losing 2-0 Friday in the first of the two-game series. After a scoreless first period, Manhattanville's Derek Lynden (Pickering, Ont.) gave his team a 1-0 lead with a short-handed goal at 8:45 of the second. The Blue Devils countered in less than four minutes as freshman Bryan Ross (Livonia, Mich.) scored his first of two goals.

The Valiants re-took the lead, 2-1, at 6:32 of the third period on a power-play goal by Chris Trafford (Kinburn, Ont.), only to have Ross score again at the 14:30 mark. The two goals were his fourth and fifth of the season.

Mikkelsen's game-winner at 18:34 came just after the Blue Devils had killed off a penalty. They were 7 of 9 on penalty kills, while Manhattanville was 5 of 6.

Fredonia State goaltender Pat Street (Annapolis, Md.) finished with 34 saves while his counterpart, Manhattanville's P.O. Lemieux (Baie Comeau, Que.) had 13 saves.

The Blue Devils return to SUNYAC action next weekend for a pair of home games, 7 p.m. Friday vs. Plattsburgh and 7 p.m. Saturday vs. Potsdam. They are the first two of eight straight conference games to close out the regular season.
