OSWEGO, N.Y. -- No. 1 ranked Oswego continued its run through the SUNYAC with a 3-1 victory Saturday over Fredonia State.

Outshot 28-18 in the game, the Blue Devils fell to 14-5-0 overall and 6-4-0 in the SUNYAC. They were No. 17 in the most recent NCAA Division III national rankings.

Oswego improved to 18-1-0 overall and 10-0-0 in the conference. They are No. 1 -- with 18 of 20 first-place votes -- in the poll.

The Lakers scored midway through the second period to break a scoreless tie, then kept momentum with two goals early in the third period. The first two goals came on power plays.

Bryan Ross (Livonia, Mich.), a sophomore forward, scored the first Fredonia State goal during a 4-on-3 opportunity midway through the final period. It was his 14th goal of the season.

Moments later, Oswego goaltender Kyle Gunn-Taylor stopped junior defensemen Chris de Bruyn (Calgary, Alberta) on a breakaway.

John Whitelaw, Stephen Mallard, and Eric Selleck scored the Oswego goals.

Sophomore goaltender Kody Van Rentergem (Leduc, Alberta) was credited with 25 saves, Gunn-Taylor with 17 for the Lakers.

Fredonia State is back in action Friday against Buffalo State at the Steele Hall Ice Arena. Game time is 7 p.m.
