FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Andrew Hess scored on a power play with 4:22 remaining in regulation Saturday as Fredonia State rallied to tied Potsdam, 2-2, in SUNYAC hockey at Steele Hall.
For Hess, a sophomore forward from Bowling Green, Ohio, it was his first goal of the season. He was assisted by junior James Muscatello (Baldwinsville) and senior Matt McKeown (Niagara Falls, Ont.).
Junior goaltender Pat Street (Annapolis, Md.) stopped 41 shots in the Blue Devil net. Potsdam's Trevor McNeill made 47 saves.
Sophomore defenseman Chris de Bruyn (Calgary, Alberta) opened the scoring with his second goal of the season at 2:39 of the first period. Assists were credited to freshman forward Bryan Ross (Livonia, Mich.) and sophomore forward Jordan Oye (Richmond, B.C.).
The Bears (5-9-5, 2-4-4 SUNYAC) scored twice early in the third period to erase the Blue Devil lead. Connor Treacy scored his 14th goal of the season :47 seconds into the period. Colin MacLennan then stunned the Blue Devils with an unassisted short-handed goal at the 3:07 mark while the Bears were killing off a 5-of-3 disadvantage.
