ANNVILLE, N.Y.  -- Fredonia State opened its 2009-10 season with a 7-0 road victory over Lebanon Valley.

Senior forward James Muscatello (Baldwinsville) had three goals and an assist to lead the Blue Devils. Four other players had goals and senior goaltender Pat Street (Annapolis, Md.) made 23 saves. It was Street's third career shutout.

Fredonia State junior foward Alex Morton (Cannington, Ont.) opened the scoring at 3:46 of the first period. Morton later added an assist.

Muscatello made it 2-0 at 15:17 of the opening period, and added his second goal at 18:42 of the second period to increase the margin to 3-0.

The Blue Devils erupted for four goals in the third period. Junior forward Dave Ridos (Hamilton) and Muscatello scored within a 32-second span at 12:27 and 12:59, respectively. Freshman forward Will McLaughlin (Mountain Top, Pa.) scored a goal in his first collegiate game at 16:47 before junior forward Jordan Oye (Richmond, B.C.) completed the scoring at 19:35.

Junior defenseman Steve Rizer (Smithtown, N.Y.) and freshman forward Chris Jung (Sandy, Utah) had two assists each.

The teams meet again at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
