UTICA, N.Y. -- One night after rallying to tie, Fredonia State earned a methodical 2-1 win over Utica before 2,988 at the Memorial Auditorium.
Goals by Bryan Goudy (Port Huron, Mich.) and Alex Morton (Cannington, Ont.) accounted for the Blue Devil scoring, while junior goaltender Pat Street (Annapolis, Md.) made 28 saves and earned the No. 1 star.
Street stopped 42 shots in a 3-3 tie between the two teams Friday. In that game, the Blue Devils (2-1-1) rallied from a 3-1 deficit with two third-period goals.
They never trailed in the Saturday rematch. Goudy's goal, his second of the season, came at the 13:51 mark of the second period, while Morton made it 2-0 at 1:11 of the third period. It was also his second goal of the season.
Street had a shutout in his sights when Utica's Mike Leone scored with eight seconds remaining in the non-conference game.
The Blue Devils move to SUNYAC competition for the first time this season with a pair of road games next weekend -- Friday at Plattsburgh, Saturday at Potsdam.
