FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Oswego scored two goals in a span of 20 seconds to turn back an upset bid by Fredonia State, 7-4, in SUNYAC hockey at Steele Hall.

Trailing 4-3 midway through the final period, the Lakers got goals from Tyler Lyon (Foxboro, Ont.) and Kevin Huinink (Whitby, Ont.) while both teams were skating short a player due to coincidental penalties.

The teams were again skating 4-on-4 when Neil Musselwhite (Burlington, Ont.) scored to make it 6-4 Oswego with 1:34 remaining.

Eric Selleck (Spencerville, Ont.) scored into an empty net at 19:01 to complete the scoring and put the finishing touches on a five-point night. Chris Laganiere (Owego, N.Y.) outdid his linemate with two goals and three assists. The third member of their line, Justin Fox (Whitby, Ont.), added a goal and two assists.

For the Blue Devils, the line of center Jeff Aonso (Toronto, Ont.) between wingers Alex Morton (Cannington, Ont.) and James Muscatello (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) combined for eight points. Morton had a pair of goals in the first period to erase a 2-0 Oswego lead. Muscatello had a goal and an assist, Aonso had three assists, and Morton one assist.

Nick Simson (Lackawanna, N.Y.) had the other Fredonia State goal, his second in two nights.

Muscatello's goal came on a power play and put the Blue Devils in front, 4-3, at 12:24 of the third period. A long lead pass by Steve Rizer (Smithtown, N.Y.) out of the defensive end started the play. Aonso took the pass on the safe side of the blue line and made a cross-ice pass to Muscatello streaking up the left side, who beat Oswego goaltender Paul Beckwith (Cleveland, Ohio) into the open side.

Beckwith finished with 23 saves while Fredonia State's Pat Street (Annapolis, Md.) stopped 44 shots.

The Blue Devils were 7 for 7 on the penalty kill. They were also 2 of 4 on the power play.

The loss dropped Fredonia State to 2-2 on the year and 0-2 in the SUNYAC. Oswego improved to 3-1 and 2-0. The Lakers were No. 9 in the preseason NCAA Division III poll.
