POTSDAM, N.Y. -- The Blue Devils' Chris LaBella scored his first goal of the season on a power play at 13:23 of the second period to give the Devils a 1-0 lead, but that's all the offense they could muster, eventually falling 2-1 at Potsdam.
After a scoreless first, the Devils had a man advantage after a holding penalty on Potsdam's Zack Juliano. LaBella used assists from Steve Rizer and Matt McKeown to beat goaltender Rick Miller.
Potsdam answered with power play scores of its own from Colin MacLennan, at 16:26, and Adam Martinez, at 19:30.
Miller and the rest of the Potsdam defense would make the lead stand to improve the Bears to 1-2-2 on the season, and 1-1-0 in the SUNYAC. Miller finished with 30 saves.
For Fredonia State, Pat Street recorded 42 saves, earning him the game's Third Star.
The Devils were 1 for 7 on power plays, while Potsdam was 2 for 9.
The Devils (2-3-1, 0-2-0 SUNYAC) have their home debut next weekend, Nov. 7th and 8th, with Oswego on Friday and Cortland on Saturday.
