PINE VALLEY, N.Y. -- The Devils dropped a 4-3 road game at Elmira College on Saturday. Tied 3-all in the third period, Elmira forward Rick Acorn scored the game-winner with 7:30 left to play.

Elmira scored the first goal of the game, with Greg Moore connecting on a power play midway through the first period.

The Devils would answer in the second, with Bryan Ross (Livonia, Mich.) hitting on a power play of his own 8:28 into the frame. Elmira responded with two more man-advantage goals in the final four minutes of the period to take a 3-1 advantage.

In the third, Elmira would have their first power play opportunity four minutes in. However, the Devils turned the tables as James Muscatello (Baldwinsville) gave the Devils a shorthanded goal. It was his sixth of the season.

The Devils’ Steve Rizer (Smithtown) would follow suit, scoring another shorthanded goal as the Devils tied things up, 3-3, with 8:30 left in the game.

A minute later, Acorn would score the deciding goal – the only even-strength score of the evening.

Kody Van Rentergem (Leduc, Alberta) had 30 saves for the Devils. Casey Tuttle had 29 for Elmira. The Devils were whistled for 10 penalties and converted one of eight power plays. Elmira (3-2-0) was three of six on power plays, and committed nine penalties.

Fredonia State drops to 3-3-0 on the season. They are on the road again next weekend, playing at Geneseo and Brockport.
