ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Fredonia State fell to the U.S. National Under-18 team, 7-3. It was the final game of the first semester for the Blue Devils (4-6-3) and their first-ever meet with Team USA.
The Blue Devils were down 5-0 before outscoring their opponent 3-2 the rest of the way.
Steve Rizer (Smithtown, N.Y.), Jeff Aonso (Toronto, Ont.), and Bryan Ross (Livonia, Mich.) had one goal each while Jordan Oye (Richmond, B.C.) had a pair of assists for Fredonia. The goals by Rizer and Ross came on Fredonia State power plays.
Pat Street (Annapolis, Md.) made 26 saves in the first two periods. Kody Van Rentergem (Leduc, Alberta) stopped 12 of 13 shots in the third period.
The same two teams will meet a second time this season Jan. 13 at Steele Hall. Prior to that, the Blue Devils will resume their season with road games Jan. 9 and Jan. 10 at Wentworth.
