FREDONIA STATE 4, JOHNSON & WALES 2

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State outlasted Johnson & Wales, 4-2, in their first of two games this weekend at the Steele Hall Ice Arena.

Jordan Oye (Richmond, B.C.) scored twice and Alex Morton (Cannington, Ont.) and James Muscatello (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) had one goal each for the Blue Devils.

Jason Pietrasiak (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Craig Houle (Burrillville, R.I.) had the Johnson & Wales goals.

The Blue Devils never trailed and led 2-1 after the first period. Oye opened the scoring 42 seconds into the game, his sixth of the season, before Petrasiak countered for the visitors at 3:07. Morton scored his ninth goal of the season at 17:03 to put the Blue Devils ahead to stay.

Muscatello scored the only goal of the second period, his team leading 10th so far. Oye completed the scoring when he scored into a vacated net with 1:18 remaining as Johnson & Wales goaltender Jake Menzel (St. Louis, Mo.) was on his way to the bench in favor of an extra attacker. The Blue Devils were skating short-handed at the time.

Fredonia State's Jeff Aonso (Toronto, Ont.) had two assists and Morton and Muscatello had one each to go along with their goals.

Kody Van Rentergem (Leduc, Alberta) made his fifth start in net for Fredonia State. He made 23 saves to improve his record to 4-3-0. At the opposite end, Menzel stopped 55 of 59 Fredonia State shots.

The Blue Devils improved to 8-4 while Johnson & Wales fell to 2-6.

The teams play again 3 p.m. Saturday at the Steele Hall Ice Arena.
