BOX SCORE: Morrisville State 3, Blue Devils 2 (OT)

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Morrisville State stunned Fredonia State, 3-2, in overtime to knock the Blue Devils out of the SUNYAC tournament.

Nick Kulas (Parma, Mich.) scored at 4:45 of overtime to complete the Mustangs' comeback and avenge two regular-season losses, including 7-1 Saturday night at Steele Hall.

The Mustangs improved to 9-19 and will meet No. 1 seed Oswego at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Lakers are ranked No. 2 in the nation in the latest USCHO.com poll.

It was also Morrisville State's first victory ever over Fredonia State. The Blue Devils lead the all-time series, 8-1. They fell to 17-7-2 on the season.

After a scoreless first period, Fredonia State's Jeff Aonso (Toronto, Ont.) opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 1:55 of the first period. Morrisville State's Tom Longland (Dunnville, Ont.) scored the equalizer at 11:16.

Whatever momentum the Mustangs may have gained was lost 44 seconds later as Jordan Oye (Richmond, B.C.) put the Blue Devils back on top, 2-1. It was Oye's third goal and eighth point vs. the Mustangs this season. It was also Oye's 17th goal of the season -- and his team's last. Morrisville State's Caylin Relkoff (Grand Forks, B.C.) stopped 12 shots in the third period and overtime combined and had 37 saves in the game.

Rob Sgarbossa (Campbellville, Ont.) forged a 2-2 tie with the only goal of the third period, one of the three shots to elude Blue Devil goaltender Kody Van Rentergem (Leduc, Alberta), who was credited with 37 saves.

The Blue Devils were victims of an unlucky bounce in the overtime when a clearing attempt out of their defensive end deflected off the skate of an official. Kulas took advantage with the game-winning goal, his fourth of the season. The Mustangs were making their first SUNYAC Tournament appearance.

In addition to Aonso, four other Blue Devil seniors were making their final collegiate appearance. The others were Kyle Yelich (Fredonia), James Muscatello (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), Frank Soscia (Richmond Hill, Ont.), and Pat Street (Annapolis, Md.). All but Yelich were freshmen on the Blue Devils' 2007 SUNYAC championship team.
