FREDONIA, N.Y. --The American Hockey Coaches Association have chosen Fredonia State's Steve Rizer (Smithtown, N.Y.) as NCAA Men's Division III Second Team East All-American.
A junior defenseman, Rizer netted seven goals and had 26 assists for 33 points during the 2009-10 season. He had three power-play goals, three short-handed goals (tied for fourth in the nation), and three game-winners.
His 33 total points were 47th nationally and first among all defensemen in the SUNYAC. He was selected First Team All SUNYAC.
Seventeen schools were represented on the AHCA All-American teams. Of the 24 players honored, Rizer is the only resident of New York State.
