ONEONTA 68, FREDONIA STATE 55

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Oneonta used a 21-1 run in the second half to take command of a close game for a 68-55 SUNYAC victory over the Fredonia State Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils, winners of their previous two games, took a 44-41 lead on a three-point basket by Brad Cooper (Monticello) with 14:23 remaining. Back-to-back baskets by Brian Beckford was the start of Oneonta's lopsided run which ended with the Red Dragons leading 62-45 with 4:39 to go.

Cooper finished with 14 points and Kevin Saunders (Batavia) added 12 for the Blue Devils, who led by eight points, 25-17, midway through the first half before Oneonta battled back to lead at halftime, 35-29. Beckford had 17 points to lead four Red Dragons in double figures.

The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 5-5 and 3-1 in the SUNYAC, while Oneonta improved to 4-2 in the conference and 11-2 overall.

Fredonia State is back in action Saturday afternoon at New Paltz. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
