(BOX SCORE: Geneseo 57, Fredonia State 50)

GENESEO, N.Y. -- Geneseo downed Fredonia State 57-50 in men's SUNYAC basketball action on Tuesday.

The Blue Knights led 30-15 at the break and would build a lead to as much as 20 points in the second half.

The Devils would make a game of it, though, getting to within five points, 50-45, following a 17-3 run capped by a Greg MacBride layup with 1:20 to play.

For the game, the Devils held the rebounding advantage, 31-28, and shot 75 percent (18 of 24) from the free throw line, including 12 of 13 in the second half.

It would be cold shooting from the floor that would cost the Devils. They converted on only four of 18 three pointers (22 percent) for the game, and were 14 of 45 (31 percent) in field-goal attempts, which included a four for 20 effort in the first half.

Conversely, Geneseo was 21 of 39 (54 percent) from the field and connected on four of eight three-point attempts. The Knights shot a pedestrian 52 percent (11 of 21) from the free throw line.

Junior guards Brad Cooper and Kevin Saunders paced the Blue Devil offense with 10 points each. Bryan Morse was the top rebounder with eight boards.

Geneseo (10-5, 4-2 SUNYAC) was led by Scott Morton's 19, while Jeff Howe chipped in 17.

The Devils (10-4, 4-3) travel to Cortland on Friday, then are back in Steele Hall the next day to play host to Brockport.
