(BOX SCORE: Cortland 57, Fredonia State 47)

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- An 11-point first half proved too difficult to overcome as Fredonia State fell to Cortland, 57-47, in SUNYAC action at Corey Gymnasium.

Down 33-11 at intermission, the Blue Devils (10-5, 4-4 SUNYAC) staged a comeback but got no closer than the final score.

Senior guard Wayne Davis (Binghamton) led the Blue Devil offense with 15 points, including 8 of 9 from the line. Davis and sophomore guard Julius Bryant (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) each grabbed a team-high five rebounds.

For the Red Dragons (6-8, 3-3 SUNYAC), Carson Niehoff had 16 points, Paul Oliver added 10, and Mike Lewis grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

Fredonia State returns to SUNYAC competition, albeit at home, vs. Brockport at 8 p.m. Saturday. The Blue Devil-Brockport women play at 6 p.m. in the first game of the Steele Hall doubleheader.
