BOXSCORE: OSWEGO 59, BLUE DEVILS 50

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The injury-riddled Fredonia State Blue Devils fell to Oswego, 59-50, in SUNYAC action Saturday afternoon.

Playing without two starters and two other starters coming off the bench, the Blue Devils led only early in the game and trailed by as many as 20 points in the second half while dropping their third game this week. They fell to 6-8 overall, 4-4 in the SUNYAC.

Scott Valenta (Binghamton), a senior, had a team-high 13 points while making his first start of the season. He also grabbed a team-high six rebounds. Another senior, Kyle Mitchell (Lake Luzerne/Hadley Luzerne) came off the bench to score 12 points. Mitchell has been a starter in the past.

The Blue Devils were minus senior Brad Cooper (Monticello), who missed his second straight game with a lower body injury. Cooper was a All SUNYAC player last season and surpassed 1,000 points earlier this month. Also out Saturday was junior Julius Bryant (Buffalo/Hutch Tech), was sustained a lower body injury early the Blue Devils' game Friday at Cortland. Senior guard Kevin Saunders (Batavia), a former starter, was limited to 11 minutes Saturday. He, too, has been plagued by a lower body injury.

The Blue Devils are back in SUNYAC action Tuesday when Geneseo visits Steele Hall. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m.
