FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State rallied for a 66-63 victory Tuesday over Penn State Behrend at Steele Hall.

The Blue Devils (2-1) trailed by 16 points, 59-43, with 7:18 remaining before starting their comeback. Using full-court pressure, Fredonia State went on a 20-4 run, including eight points by Wayne Davis (Binghamton) and a four-point play by Brad Cooper (Monticello).

A free throw by Kevin Saunders (Batavia) tied the score, 63-63, and a putback basket by Kyle Mitchell (Lazarene/Hadley Lazarne) gave the Blue Devils a 65-63 lead with 40 seconds remaining.

Saunders made one of two free throws with 13 seconds left to complete the scoring. The Blue Devils contested a three-point shot by Behrend's Drew Sekar (Ellicott City, Md.) with two seconds to go. Davis grabbed the final rebound.

Cooper finished with a game-high 22 points, while Davis and Mitchell had 11 points each for the Blue Devils. Cooper also had four steals. Behrend was led by Steve Piotrowicz (Erie, Pa.) with 18 points, while Pat St. Andrews (State College, Pa.) added 13.

Penn State Behrend led 37-27 at halftime Tuesday. The Lions were shooting 63.6 percent, including 7 of 13 from beyond the arc. They cooled off in the second half -- 8 of 25 from the field overall, 5 of 13 from outside the arc.

The Blue Devils were 11 of 26 from the field (42.3 percent) in the first half and shot 43.9 percent in the game (25 of 57). They are back in action 7 p.m. Saturday night vs. SUNY Cobleskill at Steele Hall.
