FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's basketball team opened up with an exhibition win over the Sheridan (Canada) Bruins, 79-61, on Saturday.

The Devils scored first and never looked back. They led 38-28 at the break. Brad Cooper (Monticello) had 14 points in the frame, including four 3-point baskets.

Cooper would finish with 19 points to lead all scorers. Wayne Davis (Binghamton) added 17 points and Kevin Saunders (Batavia) had 11. Julius Bryant (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) had a team-best six rebounds to go along with eight points.

Tab Donaldson led Sheridan with 17 points, while Phil Ramirez added 15.

The Devils outrebounded Sheridan 38-36.

The Devils open up the NCAA portion of the schedule on Sat. Nov. 15 in the Rutgers-Newark Tournament vs. Allegheny College.
