BOX SCORE: FREDONIA STATE 64, HOUGHTON 60
HOUGHTON, N.Y -- Fredonia State picked up its first win of the season defeating the Houghton Highlanders, 64-60, on Tuesday evening.
James Kane (Buffalo/Bishop Timon) led all scorers with 22 points off the bench, including shooting seven of eight from the field. Brad Cooper (Monticello/Monticello) added 13 and a team-high seven rebounds. All Cooper’s points came from three-point land, where he shot three for eight, of from the free throw line, where he was four for four.
Houghton built a 30-26 lead at halftime. The Devils outscored them 38-30 in the second half to secure the win. In the second half, the Devils made 24 trips to the foul line, compared to Houghton’s 12. The Devils converted 17 to the Highlanders nine.
Ryan Shay and Devin Paige led Houghton with 17 and 14 points, respectively. Houghton falls to 4-2 on the season.
The Devils (1-3) open up SUNYAC play in a women’s/men’s doubleheader vs. Buffalo State this Friday at Steele Hall.
