ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Oneonta blitzed Fredonia State in the opening minutes of their SUNYAC game Saturday afternoon.

The Red Dragons used a 17-0 run to open -- and maintain -- a double-digit lead throughout their 75-65 home win. They shot 52.8 percent from the field in the game (28 of 53).

Brad Cooper (Monticello) and Wayne Davis (Binghamton) had 14 points each for the Blue Devils (6-2, 1-1 SUNYAC), who trailed by as much as 23 points late in the first half. Julius Bryant (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) added 11 points.

The Red Dragons had five players score in double figures, led by Michael Grimes with 18 points. Brian Beckford had a double-double -- 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Oneonta, improving to 3-0 in the conference, led 36-17 at halftime and only allowed the Fredonia State to chip away at the lead in the second half. The final margin was as close as the Blue Devils would get, the result of a three-point basket by Davis with :04 remaining.

Fredonia State has one remaining game in the first semester -- a Thursday trip to Medaille.
