BOX SCORE: Oneonta 63, Devils 61
FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men’s basketball team went into overtime for the second night in a row. Unfortunately for the Devils, they came up on the short end, 63-61, to Oneonta Saturday evening in Steele Hall.
Julius Bryant (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) converted a layup with 1.3 seconds left to play in regulation to tie the game at 58-all.
The Devils took an early lead in the overtime period as Bryant connected on a free throw, and Jonathan Monahan (Floral Park/Holy Cross) nailed a jumper to put the Devils up 61-58.
Oneonta would close out the game with free throw by Kevin Walsh with 1:36 left to play. Troy Talbot then tied the game, 61-all, with a layup with 41 seconds left. Talbot would go on to score what would be the game winner on another layup with 0.6 seconds left.
The teams were also tied 31-all at the half.
For the game, the Devils held a slight 34-33 advantage in rebounds.
Bryant led all scorers with 15 points, and topped the Devils with six rebounds. James Kane (Buffalo/Bishop Timon) and Amir Billups (Buffalo/Starpoint) added 10 apiece. The Devils fall to 9-12 overall, and 7-8 in the SUNYAC.
Oneonta (18-5, 11-5 SUNYAC) was led by Derek Hahn’s 14 points off the bench. Talbot and Brian Beckford had 13 apiece.
