BOXSCORE: PLATTSBURGH 60, BLUE DEVILS 48

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- Fredonia State fell to 5-7 in the SUNYAC with a 60-48 loss Friday to Plattsburgh.

Scott Valenta (Binghamton) had 15 points for the Blue Devils, who fell to 7-11 overall. James Kane (Buffalo/Timon-St. Jude) added nine points and team-highs of six rebounds and four assists.

The Cardinals, now 7-5 in the SUNYAC and 12-7 overall, had four players score in double figures, led by Steve Thomas, with 16 points. Errol Daniyan added 13 points and eight rebounds.

The Blue Devils won the previous meeting between the teams, 64-54, Jan. 9 at Steele Hall. Senior guard Brad Cooper had 16 points in that game, but has since been lost for the season with a foot injury. Two other Blue Devil starters in that game, junior Julius Bryant (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) and Kevin Saunders (Batavia), have also been out with injuries.

Bryant had 13 points in the first game, but was limited to three points in 18 minutes Friday. Saunders did not play.

Fredonia State is also in SUNYAC action Saturday afternoon at Potsdam. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
