FREDONIA, N.Y. -- A pair of second-half goals lifted Fredonia State to a 2-0 SUNYAC win over Potsdam on Alumni Day at University Stadium.

Junior forward Ryan O'Donnell (Orchard Park) scored on a penalty kick in the 84th minute, and freshman forward Justin Gmeinweiser (Rochester/Rush-Henrietta) added an insurance goal less than two minutes later.

Senior goalkeeper Andrew Feldmann (Silver Creek) made four saves for his first collegiate shutout.

A ceremony involving approximately 50 former players and coaches was held at halftime as part of the 50 Years of Fredonia Soccer celebration.

With the teams scoreless, O'Donnell was awarded a penalty kick after the officials ruled he was taken down just inside the 18-yard line. His penalty kick sailed clean into the net past Potsdam freshman goalkeeper D.J. Martin (Mechanicville). It was O'Donnell's 10th goal of the season and the 22nd as a Blue Devil. His 57 career points are 10th on the all-time list.

Gmeinweiser's insurance goal in the 86th minute was his third of the season. He drilled a hard shot straight away from 20 yards out after gathering a loose ball. There was no assist credited.

The Blue Devils (8-7-0, 2-6-0 SUNYAC) had a 20-7 advantage in shots while the Bears (4-11-2, 0-8-0 SUNYAC) led in corners kicks, 9-3.
