FREDONIA, N.Y. -- A goal by Brockport's Jamey Crumb in the 88th minute lifted the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 victory over Fredonia State in SUNYAC men's soccer Friday.

With 2:47 left in the second half, Steve Abgarian (Merrick/Bellmore-JFK) sent a ball into the goal mouth where fellow senior Brad LeFort (Chittenango) headed the ball back toward the middle of the box, where Crumb sent a one-timer into the corner of the goal.

Each team had scoring chances in the final 15 minutes. Abgarian fired a hard shot streaking down the right side of the field that was saved by Fredonia State senior goalie Thom Cavanaugh (Slingerlands/Voorheesville). One minute later, John Grabowski (Middleport/Roy-Hart) headed a ball from 10 yards out off a direct kick that was knocked away by Brockport goalie Joe Marino (Rochester/McQuaid).

With 12 minutes to play, Abgarian had another scoring opportunity as he dribbled past two defenders and took a low shot that Cavanaugh made a kick save on.

Marino made six saves to record his fifth shutout of the season. Cavanaugh also made six saves in the Fredonia goal State goal.

The Blue Devils fell to 7-6-3 overall and 3-3-2 in the SUNYAC heading into their final regular-season conference game Saturday at Geneseo.
