GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Fredonia State's 2009 season drew to a close with a 2-1 loss Wedneday to Grove City.

Andrew Quinn scored for the hosts on a free kick at 9:40 into the first overtime. The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 7-8-3.

The Blue Devils never led in the match. They trailed 1-0 on a goal by Grove City's Chuck Witt at 34:01.

Momentum shifted late in the second half. The Blue Devils nearly drew even on a shot of the post by junior forward Peter Dagel (Rocchester/Gates-Chili) at 74:21.

The equalizer came less then three minutes later, at 77:10, on a shot by junior defender Jack Flechaus (Brockport). It was Flechaus's first-ever goal as a Blue Devil. He was appearing in his 48th game covering three seasons.

Grove City had a 12-9 advantage in shots and a 6-0 margin in corner kicks. The Wolverines improved to 8-8-1.

Senior goalkeeper Thom Cavanaugh (Slingerlands/Voorheesville) made his final appearance in a Blue Devil uniform. He made two saves in the first 35:16 and sophomore Bobby McGinnis (Elmira/Elmira Free) made two saves the rest of the way.
