Men's soccer 

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State freshman midfielder Ryan Smith (Fairport) has been chosen SUNYAC Rookie of the Year in a vote of conference coaches.

Smith appeared in 18 games, six of them starts, and recorded one goal and one assist. His goal came in a 2-1 victory Oct. 10 vs. Oswego, while the assist was recorded Sept. 12 vs. Penn State Behrend. It also was part of a 2-1 Blue Devil victory.

Smith made his first start Sept. 25 vs. Oneonta and started in five of the final seven matches this season.

Brockport's Gary LaPietra was chosen SUNYAC Coach of the Year, while Plattsburgh junior Bart Misiak received the Huntley Parker Award as the SUNYAC men's soccer Player of the Year.
