POTSDAM, N.Y. -- St. Lawrence won the Lotto North County Classic title with a 1-0 victory Saturday over Fredonia State.
The Saints' Dan Marvin took a pass behind center, broke in alone, and beat Blue Devil junior goalkeeper Tom Cavanaugh (Slingerlands/Voorheesville) with 45 seconds remaining in regulation.
Cavanaugh, sophomore forward Peter Dagel (Rochester/Gates Chili), and senior defender Scott Chimileski (Horseheads) were selected to the all-tournament team for the Blue Devils (1-1). Dagel scored the game-winning goal Friday in a 1-0 victory Friday over Clarkson and had six shots -- three on goal -- Saturday vs. St. Lawrence. Cavanaugh made four saves vs. St. Lawrence to go along with his six-save shutout win vs. Clarkson.
