Men's soccer 

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A strong defensive effort was part of a 1-0 Fredonia State loss Tuesday at Medaille. The Blue Devils conceded a goal with three minutes left in the second overtime in their season-opening game.

Head coach P.J. Gondek said sophomore David Thoin (Buffalo/St. Joe's), junior Stephen Ahern (Nottingham, England/Bilborough), sophomore Rejean Archambeault (Horseheads), and junior Eli Lubberts (Ontario/Wayne) led the defensive effort.

Sophomore goalkeeper Bobby McGinnis (Elmira/Elmira Free) was credited with seven saves.

The Blue Devils are back in action Friday at Gettysburg.
