(FREDONIA STATE 0, BUFFALO STATE 0 -- 2 OT)
BUFFALO, N.Y.—Buffalo State and Fredonia State opened SUNYAC play at Coyer Field today, but after 110 minutes of play neither team could find the back of the net as the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
The Blue Devils (3-3-1, 0-0-1 SUNYAC) controlled much of the play in regulation time, but the Bengals (4-3-1, 0-0-1 SUNYAC) outshot the Blue Devils 5-0 in the extra sessions. Buffalo State thought it had the game won midway through the first overtime, but an apparent goal was called back due to a foul on the Bengals.
Buffalo State finished the game with a slight 8-6 edge in shots. Goalkeeper Brian Dudek (Niskayuna/Cheshire Academy) made three saves for the shutout for Buffalo State, while Thom Cavanaugh (Slingerlands/Voorheesville) had two stops for the Blue Devils.
In a shootout held as a potential SUNYAC tiebreaker, the Blue Devils had an 8-7 advantage.
Fredonia State returns to action next Friday with a home match vs. Oneonta at 4 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. home game next Saturday vs. New Paltz.
