NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- New Paltz held off Fredonia State, 2-1, the first time the Hawks defeated the Blue Devils since 2004.

The Hawks (4-3-2, 1-1-0 SUNYAC) took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jams Altodonna in the 19th minute. It was his SUNYAC-leading 10th goal of the season.

Sean Reminick game New Paltz a 2-0 lead in the 76th minute before the Blue Devils (5-3-0, 0-2-0 SUNYAC) broke through just over a minute later. Sophomore forward Peter Dagel (Rochester/Gates-Chili) scored his seventh goal of the season off a touch pass from sophomore defender Jack Flechaus (Brockport).

New Paltz had an 8-7 advantage in shots, with Fredonia State junior Tom Cavanaugh (Slingerlands/Voorheesville) making two saves.

The Blue Devils visit Oneonta for a 1 p.m. SUNAC game Saturday.
