Men's soccer 

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's soccer team claimed the Days Inn Tournament title in convincing fashion, dominating Penn State Behrend 5-0 on Saturday evening.The Blue Devils (4-1-0) claimed the title for the second consecutive year.

Eventual Tournament MVP Peter Dagel (Rochester/Gates Chili) provided the offense in the first half, scoring twice. His first score occured in the 19th minute on a direct kick. Dagel would find net again in the 42nd minute, feeding off a Cory Paine (Ontario Wayne) assist.

The Devils dominated play in the second half, scoring three times - a Matt Grabowski goal bookended by a pair of converted penalty kicks.

The first PK, off the foot of Ryan O'Donnell (Orchard Park), came in the 57th minute. Grabowski's score came courtesy a Dagel assist. The Devils' second PK capped the scoring as Justin Gmeinweiser (Rochester/Rush-Henrietta) beat the Behrend goalkeeper.

The Devils held a 13-7 advantage in shots. Tom Cavanaugh (Slingerlands/Voorheesville) made three saves for Fredonia State. Dustin Walker had five saves for Behrend.

Behrend falls to 2-2 on the season.

The Devils dominated the two-day tournament, scoring nine goals while shutting out both opponents -- they defeated Penn State Altoona 4-0 on Friday.

Tournament MVP Peter Dagel finished the weekend with three goals and two assists. Teammates Grabowski, Brett Wysocki (Ganesvoort/Columbia) and Eli Lubberts (Ontario/Wayne) were named to the all-tourney team.

Other all tournament selections were: Penn State Behrend - Jordan Hoffay, Mike Seth and Ahmad Salim; Wisconsin Lutheran - Edgar Albarran and Brett Maxwell; Penn State Altoona - Will Gray and David Brungard.
