ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Fredonia State cheerleading team will compete Saturday at the 2009 College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championships at Disney's Wide World of Sports.

The Blue Devils, coached by Katie Pucci-Schaefer, will compete in All-Girls Division II against 12 other teams. The team finished fifth in the same division in 2008.

Live video coverage will be available on this website via the cheerleading and dance website Varsity.com.

Fredonia State is scheduled to compete at 10:32 a.m. Saturday, the 12th of 13 teams in its division. The top eight teams will move on to finals, scheduled from 2:34 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

The awards ceremony will be held late Saturday afternoon. (A link to the entire schedule is available at the bottom of this webpage)

The other colleges and universities in Fredonia State's division, in order of semifinal appearance, are Nova Southeastern, Concord, The College of New Jersey, Jones County Junior College, Avila, Southern Connecticut State, Virginia-Wise, Kutztown, North Idaho, Angelo State, Scranton, and West Georgia.

West Georgia is the defending champ while Southern Connecticut was second and the College of New Jersey fourth in 2008, when the teams were judged on crowd-leading ability, practicality, difficulty and execution, partner stunts, pyramids, baskets tosses, tumbling, and overall presentation.
