Weekend preview
FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Three Fredonia State teams make eastward trips this weekend. Before the weekend is over, two of them will be back within the friendly confines of their home venue.
The Blue Devil women's and men's basketball teams take to the New York State Thruway for games 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday, respectively, at SUNY Cortland. When the games are over, the teams will be back on the bus and heading home for games Saturday -- again 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. -- against Brockport inside the Steele Hall Fieldhouse.
"Cortland and Brockport present two entirely different challenges this weekend," men's basketball head coach Kevin Moore said. "Cortland is a big, strong, physical, inside oriented team and Brockport is very quick, athletic and transition-oriented. We have to do a better job of taking care of the basketball against both of these teams, something we haven't done in our last three games."
Fredonia State's other traveling squad will be the swimming and diving team. The Blue Devils, finished with the home portion of their season, visit Oneonta for a 10 a.m. meet Saturday against SUNYAC sister school SUNY Oneonta and neighboring Hartwick College. It'll mark the team's next-to-last regular-season meet prior to the SUNYAC championship meet next month.
