FORT MYERS, FLA. -- Justin Nowak (Maryvale) went the distance, in an eight-hit, one-run performance as the Blue Devils rolled over Bethel, 11-1 on Friday.

Nowak (2-0) pitched scoreless ball into the ninth inning, when the Royals pushed across a run on a sacrifice fly with one out. He struck out one and walked three.

The Devils continued to swing hot bats, as every starter managed at least one hit. They jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first, as Rob Herrmann (Trumansburg) and Taylor Gahagen (Amherst/Williamsville North) each had two-run singles.

Gahagen drove in his third run of the game, plating Pete Lusk (Albion) with a sacrifice fly in the third to make it 5-0.

After a leadoff walk and single to start the fifth, Josh Greco (Lockport) laced a two-run single to up the lead to 7-0. Jeremy Borst (Clarendon, Pa./Sheffield) then knocked in Greco with a single.

The Devils wrapped up the scoring with three more in the fifth. Greco drove a bases-loaded double of the base of the wall in deep left to collect three RBI. He finished the day with a career-best five RBI, while collecting three hits. Joe Kephart (Niagara Falls/Niagara Wheatfield) had two hits.

The Devils concluded their southern trip with an 8-1 record. The are scheduled to open at Ludwig Field on Tuesday vs. Penn State Behrend.
