FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Two Fredonia State track and field athletes and a baseball player were named Monday as top SUNYAC athletes for the week ending March 22.

Julia Hopson (Poughkeepsie/Arlington), a senior thrower, was chosen SUNYAC women's Field Athlete of the Week. One week after claiming the NCAA Division III title in the 20-pound weight throw, Hopson hit an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 54.44 meters in the hammerthrow March 20 at the U.S. Naval Academy meet at Point Loma Nazarene University. Hopson also won the shot put (12.48 meters) and was second in the discus (32.23 meters).

Junior jumper Michael Kelley (Geneseo) claimed the SUNYAC men's Field Athlete of the Week award. Also competing at Point Loma Nazarene, Kelley finished second in the triple jump -- his 13.89 meters was 10 centimeters short of his personal best -- and was second in the long jump (6.47 meters).

Sophomore second baseman Josh Greco (Lockport/Lockport) has been selected SUNYAC baseball Player othe Week. He batted .533 for the week in helping to lead the Blue Devils to a 5-1 record. He posted a .600 on-base percentage and a .733 slugging percentage while scoring seven runs and driving in nine for the week. He is the second Blue Devil to receive the honor in as many weeks. Pete Lusk (Albion), a senior was cited for the week ending March 15.
