FREDONIA, N.Y. -- It's ECAC weekend for two Fredonia State programs.

The men's basketball team meets Hartwick at 8 p.m. Friday in the ECAC Upstate New York Tournament at St. John Fisher. The host Cardinals face Oswego in the other semifinal, with the championship game Saturday at 2 p.m..

The Blue Devils (18-9) are making their 10th ECAC appearance, their first since 2001. Fredonia State has won the tournament championship twice, in 1985 and again in 1995.

Four track and field athletes will compete Friday and Saturday in the ECAC Championship meet at Tufts University in Boston, Mass. They are senior thrower Julia Hopson (Poughkeepsie/Arlington), junior jumpers Michael Kelley (Geneseo) and Jackie Majka (Depew), and sophomore hurdler Kate Brett (Webster/Webster-Schroeder).

Hopson competes Friday in the shot put and will seek her third straight ECAC championship in the 20-pound weight throw Saturday. Kelley also has one event each day, the triple jump Friday and the long jump Saturday. Majka's two events -- the long jump and the high jump -- are Saturday. Brett will participate in the trials for the 55-meter high hurdles Friday, with the finals Saturday.
