FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State cruised to an 8-1 victory in the first game and then hung on for a 4-2 in the nightcap of a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Keuka College.
Nick Cummings pitched a complete-game four-hitter in the first game. He was staked to three runs in the first inning on an RBI single by Rob Herrman, an RBI triple by Josh Melquist, and another RBI single by Pete Lusk, his first of two hits in the game. In the Blue Devils' five-run sixth, Mark Majka had an RBI double, Vinnie VanAuker a sacrifice fly, and Don Kirsch a three-run double.
In the nightcap, Andy Dlugosz struck out eight batters and scattered nine hits while earning the complete-game win. Jordan Basile stole home to give Dlugosz a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Blue Devils made it 4-0 in the fourth on an RBI triple by Bryan Bongiovanni, an RBI double by Jake Nowak, and an RBI single by Josh Greco.
After three straight Keuka singles and one run in the seventh, Dlugosz picked a runner off first for the final out.
The Blue Devils improved to 17-5 with the sweep. They are headed to Penn State Behrend for a single game Wednesday.
