ERIE, Pa. -- The Blue Devils dropped an 11-8 road game to No. 23 Penn State Behrend on Wednesday.
The Lions put up four runs in the first courtesy three Devil infield errors.
The Devils bounced right back to score three runs in the top of the second. Josh Melquist singled and stole second. He scored on Jeremy Borst's RBI double. Following a dropped fly ball that scored Borst, Joe Kephart rapped a single to drive in the third run, making it a 4-3 game.
Behrend scored three times in the fifth, twice in the sixth and twice in the eighth to retake the lead, 11-4.
The Devils made a game of it in the final inning with three run. Don Kirsch and Matt Saeva picked up RBI. The Devils' third run scored on a throwing error.
Jordan Basile had four hits in the game and now has 55 for the season. That is more than Matt Clark's team standard of 53 in 2003. Basile also upped his Blue Devil career hit record to 150 hits.
Kirsch had two RBI for the Devils, and Melquist added two hits.
The Devils, 25-8, travel to Cortland for the SUNYAC Tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
