Bartkowiak broke the school record for hits in a season with a single in the final game vs. Buffalo State. She finished with 46 hits. In addition, she set school single-season records for batting average and on-base percentage, and had the second-best season ever in slugging percentage and stolen base percentage.

Men's Track & Field

   Guarino ran 1:51.26 and provisionally qualified for nationals while setting a facilty record in the 800 meters at the Roberts Wesleyan Raider Open. He has already automatically qualified to run the NCAA Division III outdoor mile, an event he won at the national indoor meet in March.

Women's Lacrosse

    With six goals and one assist vs. Geneseo, Simon became the school record-holder in points in a seaon. She finished with 74 points and 66 goals, also a new single-season school record. Her 137 points over two seasons are third most in school history.

Week ending April 25, 2010
   Sarah Furman -- Senior/West Berne, N.Y./Women's Track & Field
   Furman set a new Fredonia State school record in the women's 10,000 meters while competing April 24 at the SUNY G Open at Geneseo. Her 38:20.16 best Kristen Veltz's 38:59.90 during the 2004 season. Furman's time was just short of NCAA provisional qualifying status.
    Don Kirsch -- Senior/Attica, N.Y./Baseball
    Kirsch went 12 for 21 (.571) in five games during the week to raise his overall average to a SUNYAC-leading .478. He went 5 for 9 (.555) in a pair of SUNYAC games vs. Brockport.

   Katie Bartkowiak --

   Bartkowiak kept up her torrid hitting. After batting .636 the previous week (7 for 11), she batted .583 in four wins last week, including her second and third home runs of the season. She leads the Blue Devils in numerous statistical categories, including a .461, and has hit safely in 22 of 25 games, including nine straight.
    Matt LaPorte -- Senior/Westfield, N.Y./Baseball
    LaPorte batted .563 playing in four games for the week as the Devils went 3-2. He was 6 for 8 in a doubleheader split with Plattsburgh. He is batting .368 this season.

   Katie Bartkowiak --
Freshman/Fredonia, N.Y./Softball
   Bartkowiak displayed her hitting prowess, going 7 for 11 (.636) for the week. Included were three doubles and a home run. She leads the Devils with a .438 batting average, eight doubles and seven stolen bases.
   Kate Brett -- Junior/Webster, N.Y./Women's Track & Field
   Brett ran an NCAA provisional time of 1:03.90 en route to winning the 400-meter hurdles at the Univ. of Rochester Alumni Invitational.
   Eddie Novara -- Sophomore/Angola, N.Y./Men's Track & Field
   Eddie ran a personal best in the 5,000, breaking 15:00 in a time of 14:59.40 to win the event at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational.
   Andy Dlugosz -- Junior/Lackawanna, N.Y./Baseball
    In three appearances, Dlugosz earned a pair of wins on the mound this week to give him five for the season and 11 for his career, tying the school mark of 11 set last year by Tom Hausler. In 28 innings, Dlugosz has posted a 3.86 ERA and a 5-1 record with 30 strikeouts.

Week ending April 4, 2010
   Rebecca Zimmerman -
Senior/Jamestown, N.Y./Softball
   Zimmerman had a solid week at the plate and in the pitcher's circle. She batted .444 in four games with a double, a triple, and three runs scored. Her seven total bases led the team. As a pitcher, she posted a 0.66 earned run average in two games -- including a 5-2 victory over Geneseo. Opponents batted .231 against her in 10 2/3 innings.
   Rob Herrmann - Senior/Trumansburg, N.Y./Baseball
   Herrmann was 5 for 11 on the week for a .458 average. He also homered against Penn State Behrend. He enters the weekend batting .429 with a team-high 35 totals bases. He's tied for the team lead with 13 RBI.

   Maddison Frink -- Freshman/Baldwinsville, N.Y./Women's Lacrosse
   Frink had four goals and three assists in a 10-4 Blue Devil victory at Hartwick. She leads the Blue Devils with 14 assists and is second in scoring with 23 points through seven games.

   Sarah Ficarro -- Freshman/Owego, N.Y./Women's Swimming & Diving
   Ficarro earned two All-American certificates at the NCAA Division III championship meet in Minneapolis, Minn. She finished second in 1-meter springboard diving and sixth off the 3-meter board. She was the SUNYAC champ in both events last month.
   Christian Torres -- Senior/Dunkirk, N.Y./Men's Swimming & Diving
   Making his first appearance on the national stage, Torres finished sixth in 3-meter springboard diving at the NCAA Division III championship meet in Minneapolis, Minn. He was ninth off the 1-meter board.

   Lauren Larson -- Sophomore/Lakewood, N.Y./Softball
Larson batted .438 with two doubles, two homers, and seven RBI is six games at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers and Cape Coral, Florida. Her 15 total bases in 16 at-bats gave her a .938 slugging percentage. 
   Nick Guarino -- Junior/Bergen, N.Y./Men's Track & Field
Guarino became Fredonia State's seventh individual NCAA champion -- the sixth male -- by winning the mile run March 13 at the Division III meet in Greencastle, Ind. The top miler in the nation coming into the meet, Guarino was also named the USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Male Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.

Week ending March 7, 2010
   Webster Thomas -- Junior/Windsor, Conn./Men's Track and Field
   Thomas broke the Fredonia State men's 55-meter record with a time of 6.44 seconds, good for fourth place at the ECAC Division III indoor championship meet March 6 at Smith College. The previous record stood for 20 years. Before his family moves to the United States, Thomas attended St. George's College in Kingston, Jamiaca.

Week ending Feb. 28, 2010
   Jackie Majka -- Senior/Cheektowaga, N.Y./Women's Track and Field
   Majka scored 28 points for her team at the SUNYAC track and field championship meet. She won the high jump (1.61 meters) and the long jump (5.42 meters), and finished second in the triple jump (11.15 meters).
  Nick Guarino -- Junior/Bergen, N.Y./Men's Track & Field
   Guarino broke SUNYAC championship meet records in the men's 800 meters (1:53.62) and the men's mile (4:10.99). He won both events and will likely run in both at the NCAA championship meet later this month.

   Jackie Majka --
Senior/Cheektowaga, N.Y./Women's Track and Field
   Majka won the women's high jump Feb. 20 at the Mount Union Open with a clearance of 1.60 meters. She was also third in the triple jump with 10.75 meters, and was fourth in the long jump at 5.29 meters. In addition to being her best jumps of the season, all three distances qualified Majka for the ECAC championship meet.
   Jordan Oye -- Junior/Richmond, B.C./Hockey
   Oye led the Blue Devils to a 7-1 victory over Morrisville State with a goal and four assists. He leads the Blue Devils in scoring with 38 points (16 goals, 22 assists).

   Sarah Ficarro
-- Freshman/Owego, N.Y./Women's Swimming & Diving
   Ficarro was named Diver of the Meet after winning SUNYAC championships in 3-meter and 1-meter springboard diving. She is an NCAA provisional qualifier off both boards. By winning the 3-meter title, she extended the Blue Devils' run of SUNYAC champs to six straight years. Teresa MacInnes won in 2005, and Kelly Sponholz in 2006 through 2009. Sponholz also won four straight SUNYAC 1-meter titles.
   Nick Guarino -- Junior/Bergen, N.Y./Men's Track & Field
   Guarino continued his solid indoor season with his most impressive performance so far -- a 4:08.10 mile at the Boston University Valentine Invitational. He was the top finisher from an NCAA Division III school and 9th overall out of 203 entries. His time was both an automatic NCAA D-III qualifier and the fastest time this season in the division based on coaches' reports through Monday morning to www.raceberryjam.com. It is also believed to be a Fredonia State men's mile record.

   Merissa Gaeta --
Senior/Kirkwood, N.Y./Women's Basketball
   Gaeta averaged a double-double during the week -- 13 points and 10 rebounds -- as the Blue Devils won two of three SUNYAC road games. Her best game was a 17-point, 11-rebound effort in a win at Brockport. She shot 53.8 percent from the field and 73.3 percent from the foul line.
   Broncho Rollins -- Junior/Ithaca, N.Y./Men's Track & Field
   Pole vaulter Rollins bettered his personal-best by nine inches as he cleared 15 feet, 3 inches (4.65 meters) and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III championships while winning the event at Mount Union College's Jim Wuske Invitational in Alliance, Ohio.

Week ending Jan. 31, 2010
   Sarah Ficarro
-- Freshman/Owego, N.Y./Women's Swimming & Diving
   Ficarro was a four-time winner with two wins each at the Fredonia Quad Meet and the Ithaca Diving Invitational in springboard diving. Her winning total of 245.30 points in the 1-meter at the home meet Jan. 30 was an NCAA provisional score. The following day, she recorded 11-dive victories off the 1- and 3-meter boards with scores of 383.65 and 458.75. The 3-meter victory was also an NCAA provisional score.
   Nick Guarino -- Junior/Bergen, N.Y./Men's Track & Field
   Guarino set a SUNYAC indoor track & field record in the 1,000-meter run of 2:27.59 while winning the event at the Colgate University Class of 1932 Invitational. There were 33 runners in the race. The previous SUNYAC record of 2:27.94 was set by Cortland's Justin Wager in 2008.

   Jackie Majka --
Senior/Depew, N.Y./Women's Track & Field
   Majka was a triple winner Jan. 23 at the Mary Phillips Open inside the Steele Hall Fieldhouse. Her victories in the long jump, the triple jump, and the high jump were all season-bests and SUNYAC qualifiers.
   Nick Guarino -- Junior/Bergen, N.Y./Men's Track & Field
   Guarino recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:54.37 while winning the men's 800 meters Jan. 23 at the Mary Phillips Open on the Fredonia State campus. He was also part of the winning distance medley relay.

Week ending Jan. 17, 2010
   Juliana Walker
-- Sophomore/Frewsburg, N.Y./Swimming & Diving
   Walker won the women's 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly Jan. 15 in a tri-meet with Division II Edinboro and Ithaca College at the Steele Hall Natatorium. On Jan. 16 at Brockport, Walker claimed wins in the 50-yard freestyle, the 200-yard butterfly, and was part of the winning women's 400-yard medley relay.
   Mike Seay -- Senior/Grand Island, N.Y./Swimming & Diving
   On Jan. 15, Seay claimed victories in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breast stroke (1:1.29), which broke his own school record, while swimming against Division II Edinboro at the Steele Hall Natatorium. Against Brockport the next day, Seay won the 200-yard butterfly and the 200-yard breast stroke. He was also part of the winning men's 400-yard medley relay.
