ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Three pool records and one school record were claimed Saturday by members of the Fredonia State swimming and diving team at Hartwick College's Moyer Pool.
Women's senior diver Kelly Sponholz (Alden) set new 1-meter and 3-meter springboard diving pool records, while male diver Christian Torres (Dunkirk), a junior, established a new 1-meter springboard mark. Torres also won the 3-meter competition, and both he and Sponholz again posted NCAA Division III provisional qualifying scores.
The school record was set by senior Al Palmquist (Olean) in the 100-yard backstroke. His winning time Saturday was 53.55 seconds, bettering his previous school record by .11 seconds. Palmquist also won the 200-yard backstroke. On the women's side, senior Emily Dizer (Tonawanda/Sweet Home) also won the both the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke races.
Hartwick won both portions of the meet -- 174-124 among the women, 177½-121½ among the men.
